St. Louis - On a cold and windy afternoon at the Maryville Tennis Courts, the Saints women's team downed Truman State 8-1 in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match Friday.

The Saints grabbed the lead by sweeping the three doubles matches.
Lucy Horbatowski and
Sarah Etter won eight of nine games to ease to an 8-1 victory at No. 3 doubles.
Rebekah Anderson and
Puck Vlaskamp dispatched their TSU foes by an 8-3 count in the top doubles matchup. Sandra Hinterburger and
Lina Kunert closed out doubles action at No. 2 by battling to an 8-5 victory.

In singles play, the Saints won their five matches in straight sets, and did not lose a game in the second set, to clinch the triumph. Etter won the No. 1 singles tilt 6-2, 6-0, and Vlaskamp took a 6-3, 6-0 victory. Anderson and
Kine Kleppe posted identical 6-1, 6-0 decisions at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively. Kunert eased to a 6-2, 6-0 win at the final singles slot. Truman State won its only point of the day in a super tiebreak 10-7 at No. 3 singles.

The Saints are 11-7 overall, 2-0 in the GLVC. Maryville is back in action in its final home match of the season Saturday, April 1, as Quincy visits in an 11 a.m. match.
