St. Louis - The Maryville women's tennis team was making its fourth straight appearance in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament but faced a tough task in its opening match against West Division No. 1 seed Indianapolis. The Greyhounds proved worthy of their high seed as they downed the Saints 5-0 to move on to the semifinals. Due to rain, the match was moved indoors to the Vetta Sports-Concord courts.

In the top doubles match, the pairing of
Rebekah Anderson and
Puck Vlaskamp was downed by UIndy's top duo of Hanna Volikova and Florence Renard 8-4.
Sandra Hinterberger and
Lina Kunert were defeated at No. 2 doubles by the same 8-4 score. At No. 3,
Sarah Etter and
Lucy Horbatowski battled to the final set but were unable to break through as Bella Bergman and Mara Hofstetter held on for an 8-6 win.

Play moved to singles action and in the No. 1 slot, GLVC Player of the Year Volikova defeated Etter 6-1, 6-0. In the final official match of the day, Renard beat Vlaskamp 6-1, 6-2 to eliminate the Saints.

Maryville ends the season with a mark of 14-10. The Greyhounds, who are ranked No. 13 in the country and are the top team in the region, are now 15-3.
