The Maryville men's and women's tennis teams began the fall season with victories over Missouri Baptist. The men's squad returned to action with a 6-3 win, while the Saints women recorded an 8-1 victory over the Spartans in matches held at the Creve Coeur Racket Club.
Louis Glaves and Jack Beuttell-Triggs won the top doubles match 8-5, while Jean Segura and Fernando DeAndres Orea triumphed by an 8-6 margin. The Spartans took the point at No. 3 doubles.
The teams battled in singles action with the Saints taking the top three spots. Segura eased to a 6-0, 6-1 win, while Beutell-Triggs won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2. Glaves emerged with a 6-2, 6-1 victory in the third slot. Donovan McKnight won the final point of the day for Maryville with a 6-0, 6-2 decision at No. 6 singles.
For the women, the Saints started by winning all three doubles points. After a walkover at No. 1, Kine Kleppe and Sarah Etter notched an 8-2 win at No. 2. Ashley Dowden and Sandra Hinterberger also won via the same scoreline.
In singles play, Maryville won five of six matches to close out the match. Etter won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, while Lina Kunert swept all 12 games at No. 3. Rebekah Anderson recorded a 6-1, 6-1 win at fourth singles, and Hinterberger cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 5. Dowden only lost one game in winning her singles match 6-0, 6-1.
