Robin Thompson both recorded double-doubles as the Maryville men's basketball team won its fifth straight game with a 75-58 victory over Illinois Springfield. Berry had game highs of 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Thompson recorded 11 points and 10 caroms. The Saints shot 52.9 percent while holding UIS to just 35.5 percent.

What Happened
The Saints dominated from the tip and scored 16 of first 18 points of the game. UIS scored the first two points but Thompson hit a free throw that started a 16-0 run. Berry sank a 3-pointer and a jumper, and Thompson tacked on a three-point play.
Teehjay Bogan drained a triple for a double-digit lead. Bogan scored again, and
Eugene Jones made a layup in the lane for a 16-2 lead. UIS final scored again as the Saints defense shut out UIS for nearly seven minutes. Maryville's lead never was never less than 10, and two Grant Sims free throws built a 40-20 lead at intermission.

UIS got as close as 46-34 in the second half but Thompson made a jumper and Berry tacked on two free throws for a 50-34 advantage with 13 minutes to play. The closest the Prairie Stars would get was 58-44 at the 9:06 mark but the Saints tallied four straight points and eased to the win.
