Summary
The Maryville men's basketball team had six players score in double figures but could not come all the way back in an 85-84 loss to Drury.
Nolan Berry finished with 17 points and 16 rebounds as the Saints nearly overcame a 21-point deficit in another thrilling game at Moloney Arena. The loss is just the second at home this season for the Saints, both coming by one point.
What Happened
Drury built a 66-45 lead over the Saints with 11:35 to go before the Saints started their comeback.
Casey Teson hit two free throws, and
Jimmy Barton tacked on a triple. Berry made one free throw and scored on a putback as the Saints pulled to within 53-66. The margin was till 74-60 until the Saints tallied six straight.
Robin Thompson sank two at the line, and Barton did the same on the next trip.
Eugene Jones powered up for a layup as Maryville trimmed the deficit to single-digits at 74-66 with 6:14 remaining.
Drury led 82-73 before the Saints final push.
Forrester Sims drained a jumper, and Barton had a steal and fed
Teehjay Bogan for an easy bucket. The Panthers scored but Sims sank two at the line and drilled a jumper as the Saints scored to get within 83-81 with 20 seconds to play. However, Drury's Isaac Johnson sank two free throws at the 16.6 second mark for an 85-81 lead to seal the win. The Saints pushed the ball ahead and Barton drilled a three at the buzzer for the final margin.
