Summary
The Maryville defense had one of its longest shutout stretch of the season but Alabama-Huntsville kept its early lead to down the Saints 9-4. The Saints saw four different players score goals. Maryville did not allow UAH to score from the end of the second through midway in the fourth quarter.
What Happened
Alabama-Huntsville scored the first two goals of the game before Jai Benson tallied his second goal of the season to put the Saints on the scoreboard. UAH kept up the offensive pressure and stretched its margin to 7-1. Parker Lee found the back of the net for his sixth score of the year. Austin Myers grabbed a rebound and fired in a goal as the half ended to pull the Saints to 7-3.
Both defenses clamped down as neither team scored in the third quarter. The Saints defense refused to give up a goal. Jordan Shumate recorded his first goal of the season as Maryville cut the deficit to just 7-4 with 5:18 to play. However, UAH scored with 3:02 remaining to end the strong Maryville defensive effort. The Chargers tacked on a late goal to seal the victory.
