Sarah Etter won the No. 1 singles match at Bellarmine but the Maryville women's tennis team was unable to gather any more points and suffered an 8-1 defeat Sunday in Louisville, Ky. The Saints are 6-3, while the Knights improve to 12-1 this season.
Rebekah Anderson and
Lina Kunert took two games at the top doubles match, and Etter and
Kine Kleppe won three sets at No. 2.
Ashley Dowden and
Sandra Hinterberger won one game at No. 3 doubles.
Etter battled in the match and posted a 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 win at No. 1. Anderson claimed five games in her No. 2 match, and Hinterberger won four games playing at No. 3. Kunert lost the first set 6-3 before bouncing back to win the second set 6-0. However, her opponent won the super tiebreaker in the third set. Kleppe and Dowden both forced at least one tiebreak in each match but were unable to claim a win.
