The Maryville men's tennis team nearly topped No. 18 ranked Drury but the Panthers held on for a narrow 5-4 win in a match at Dwight Davis Tennis Center in Forest Park.

The Panthers took the first two doubles points before the Saints grabbed the No. 3 doubles point via
Bodin Aleksic and
Jack Beuttell-Triggs. The duo battled for an 8-6 win as the score stood at 2-1 heading into singles play.

Juan Segura battled to earn a 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 win in the second singles slot. Beuttell-Triggs won his second point of the day as he cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 triumph at No. 3 singles. Aleksic won the fourth point of the day for Maryville with a 7-5, 6-3 decision but Drury closed out the victory in the Great Lakes Valley Conference opener for both teams.
