Facing No. 14 Drury in the Great Lakes Valley Conference opener, the Maryville women's tennis squad fell behind and were unable to recover as the Panthers posted a 7-2 victory at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St Louis' Forest Park.

The Panthers won the opening two matches in doubles before
Ashley Dowden and
Sandra Hinterberger put up a fierce battle at No. 3 before succumbing 9-7.

Dowden picked up the point at No. 6 singles as she recorded a 6-1, 6-2 win.
Kine Kleppe accounted for the other Maryville victory as she took a 7-6, 3-6, 10-7 triumph at No. 5 singles.
Sarah Etter extended her No. 1 singles match to a third set but lost a 10-7 decision.
