2019 Greyhound Open brackets
The Maryville wrestling team spent the weekend in Indianapolis competing in two duals as well as at the Greyhound Open. The Saints defeated Wisconsin-Parkside 22-15 but lost to #17 Ashland 27-7. At the Greyhound Open, Maryville had four placers as well as two unattached wrestlers as placers.
Anthony Pisciotta worked through the consolation bracket at 125 and won the seventh-place match with a 17-1 tech fall. In the 133 division, Alex Waggoner won three matches on the day and took sixth place. Tristan Barr battled through the consolation draw and eventually grabbed fifth place in the 141 classification.
At 165, Connor Villarmia won his first match with a 16-1 tech fall before dropping into the back draw. He defeated teammate Christopher Viehmann and reached the seventh-place match but lost in a decision to end his tourney. Dylan Shotwell garnered a fifth-place finish at 174, while the Saints had two unattached competitors earn places.
The Saints are next in action at home as they host Newman University in a dual match Saturday, Jan. 26, at 2 p.m. in Moloney Arena.Â
