JAMESTOWN, N.D. – The W1 Saints returned to St. Louis after a 1-2 road trip to North Dakota over the weekend. The Saints went 1-1 against Minot State University and finished out their trip with a 3-4 overtime loss against the University of Jamestown on Sunday.
 
The W1 Saints have had a tough schedule to begin the year, taking on McKendree, Lindenwood, Minot State, and Jamestown who are all ranked in the top 15. Through six games this season, they are 3-2-1 including a 6-3 win over McKendree and a 6-4 win over Lindenwood.
 
After busing 15 hours to North Dakota for a trio of conference games, the Saints had to gear up to play perennial top-five Minot State. On Friday, the Saints lost 5-4 but bounced back on Saturday. Elle Rutherford tallied her fourth goal of the season to open the scoring followed later by Olivia O'Brien's game-winner in the third period.
 
On Sunday, the Saints lost in heartbreaking fashion. After falling behind 3-2 in the third period, Kyla Morris took feeds from Sarah Brooks and Paige Dawson for her fourth goal of the year on the powerplay to knot things up. Maryville continued pressing in overtime, getting off four shots on net, but Jamestown came up with the goal to send the visitors home with a 3-4 loss.
 
Next up for the Saints is a two-game set against Miami University (Ohio) beginning on Saturday, Oct. 22. Puck drop is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. at the Maryville University Ice Hockey Center.
