BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Maryville men's track & field took home fifth place out of 11 teams on Saturday at the Titan First Chance Meet in Bloomington, Ill. The men set a pair of school records among several impressive performances on the campus of Illinois Wesleyan University.
The Saints picked up a team victory in the 4x400 relay when they bested six other teams with a 3:26.31.
Cetris Ivy Jr. opened the race with a 52.090 finish in the first lap, followed by
Adrieon Keys (50.850),
Rand Mathews (52.072), and
Jobey Smith (51.295). The time bested the previous school record for the event set last year.
In the 600m,
Adrieon Keys also set a school record with a second-place finish out of 20 participants. The McCluer South Berkeley product finished the race in 1:22.78 to break his own record from 2021-22.
Other top-five finishes include
Gavin McDonald's third-place finish in the pole vault (4.05m), Mathews' third-place finish in the triple jump (12.76m), and Ivy's fifth-place finish in the 600m (1:26.57).
The Saints are back in action on Saturday, Jan., 21, at the Snow Bird Invite hosted by Illinois College.
