ROLLA, Mo. – The Maryville Track and Field team has officially begun its outdoor season, heading west to Rolla, Mo., this past weekend for the Missouri S&T hosted Miner Invitational. In total, five different GLVC programs were present at Allgood-Bailey Stadium.
The Saints racked up a pair of event victories, alongside a slew of top finishes. The biggest highlight of the weekend was
Bryson Pickard snapping a decade record in the 800 meter, tallying the win in the event with a 1:53.11, beating a 2012 record set by Adam Arevson. Pickard would also tie the 200 meter record of 21.64 set by
Terry Towah a season ago, landing him in third-place in the event.
Also snapping a record was
Amrish Hallberg in the hammer throw, upending a record from last year with a 43.83 meter toss.
Mallorie Metzger rolled in the lone event win for the women, tallying first in the 800 meter with a 2:18.18.
Rickalia Goss of the women's team has kept her quality freshmen season alive, tallying third in the 100 meter and second in the 200 meter.
Lyric Ford also tallied a second-place finish in the 1500 meter.
Not to be outshined by Hallberg,
Liz Vermillon of the throw crew tallied a PR in the hammer, while also placing third in the shot put.
Other notable finishes included
Jadon Salamone finishing second int he 400,
Justin Brewer landing as the runner-up in the 3000 steeplechase and
Landon Oxford third in the 400 meter hurdles.
