Liberty, Mo. – The Maryville wrestling team rolled to a 38-3 victory at William Jewell in the Great Lakes Valley Conference opener in Liberty, Mo. The Saints won nine of the 10 bouts on the night.

The Saints took the first match of the night as the Cardinals were open at 125 as
Sam Shafer was credited with the win. In the 133 class,
Austin Wadlow followed with a 13-3 major decision, and
Taylor Jokerst cruised to a 15-0 tech fall at 141.

Tyler Stegall posted a 14-5 major at 149, while
Luke Ebers shutout his 157 opponent in a 4-0 decision.
Cole Ritter eased to a 10-2 major, while
Lance Hymer rallied for a 7-6 decision in the 174 weight class to push the Saints on top 29-0.

The Cardinals took their only bout of the night at 184 but
Chase Stegall recorded a fall at the 4:56 mark in the 197 classification. In the final match of the night,
Ryan Herman battled for a 7-4 decision to close out the 38-3 victory for Maryville.

The Saints are at home Saturday, Jan. 14, for two dual matches. Davenport is the opponent in a noon GLVC contest in Moloney Arena. Findlay is the opponent in a match that will start at 2 p.m.
