QUINCY, Ill. – Maryville University swimming fell in a tri-meet to Quincy University and Rockhurst University on Saturday afternoon. The men tallied 47 and 39 points in their two matchups against Rockhurst and Quincy, while the women posted 38 and 46 points, respectively.
Devon Tallent led the way for the men for the second straight week, finishing fourth in the 100m backstroke with a 55.72. The senior from Ferguson, Mo., also took third in the 200m backstroke with a 2:03.04.
Other top finishers for the men's team were
Chase Hayes with a 1:58.63 to earn sixth in the 200m freestyle and
Wyatt Martin's 1:04.35 to take sixth in the 100m breaststroke.
The highest finish for the women was the 200m freestyle relay 'A' team, made up of
Aspyn Howard,
Isabelle Calabio,
Ellie Williams, and
Hannah Doss. Their combined effort was good enough to earn the bronze in the event with a 1:49.58.
Paige Bolling,
Maddie Bray, and Calabio also contributed to the team individually, taking fourth in their respective events. Bolling posted a 27.85 in the 50m freestyle, Bray finished the 100m butterfly in 1:09.14, and Calabio logged a 1:06.54 in the 100m backstroke.
Maryville swimming is back in action on Saturday, Nov. 4, in a tri-meet with the University of Saint Mary and Midland University. The first event is scheduled for noon in Leavenworth, Kan.
