BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Maryville University men's track & field finished third out of 15 teams at the Illinois Wesleyan University Titan Open on Saturday. The Saints pick up their first top-three finish of the season behind impressive outings from
Gavin McDonald and
Cetris Ivy Jr.
McDonald, a senior from Pacific, Mo., tallied a mark of 4.50m to earn his first event win of the season and first indoor win since the Eastern Illinois University Friday Night Special on Feb. 18, 2022.
Maryville logged a pair of second-place finishes in Ivy Jr. and the 4x400 team. Ivy Jr., completed the 400m in 51.41 while also competing in the 4x400m with
Jobey Smith, Rand Matthews, and
Mason Gray for a total time of 3:31.32.
Other notable finishes for the men were
Andre Williams' bronze in the triple jump (12.97m) and
Brady Gischer's fourth-place finish in the 5000m (16:15.56).
Next up for Maryville men's track & field is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Indoor Championships. The conference meet is scheduled to start on Saturday, Feb. 25, and will run through Sunday, Feb. 26, in Indianapolis, Ind.
