EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Maryville University wrapped up the 2022-23 season over the weekend in Evansville, Ind., at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Swimming & Diving Championships. The women took home eighth out of nine teams while the men finished 10
th.

The Saints took home 334 points on the women's side to finish behind William Jewell University and just ahead of Quincy University. The men fell short of Truman State University in 10
th place with 219 total points.

Mariela Showalter,
Hannah Doss, and
Ella Fries stood out for the Saints in the time trials. Showalter finished second with a 1:01.52 in the 100-yard freestyle, Doss took third in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:00.70, and Fries took bronze in the 50-yard freestyle with a 26.05 finish.

The women's 200-yard medley relay team made up of Fries, Doss,
Karen Bistrain, and
Sarah Rosson took home eighth in the event with a school-record 1:51.04 in the event on Wednesday. On Saturday, Maryville set another school record when the men's 400-yard relay team (
Wyatt Martin,
Colin Fitzgerald,
Devon Tallent,
Caleb Jahnke) broke the school record time with a mark of 3:14.88.

With the conclusion of the GLVC Championships, the Saints end the 2022-23 season with a 4-5 overall record for the women and a 1-9 record for the men.
