Box Score St. Louis – In the 2023 spring season opener, the Maryville women's tennis team shut out William Jewell on a sunny Sunday afternoon at Dwight Davis Tennis Center.
 
The Saints took the doubles point and won all three matches, losing just three games total. Billur Gonlusen and Carolina Velazquez blanked their foes at No. 1 doubles, while Emily Orlove and Nazli Saka won their No. 2 match 6-2. Maria Gouveia and Maria Paula Suarez only lost one game to win their No. 3 match.
 
Gonlusen and Velazquez won at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, with identical scorelines of 6-4, 6-3. Orlove claimed a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 3, while Saka only lost one game in each set. Lisson won 12 straight games at the fifth spot, while Gouveia only lost one game, in the first set, to take the No. 6 position.
 
The Saints next play Saturday, Feb. 11, when Rockhurst visits for a 1:30 p.m. match at Sunset Tennis Center.
