ROLLA, Mo. – Maryville University track & field started the outdoor season with six top-three finishes including
Brian Misoi's individual win in the 3000m Steeplechase and a first-place finish in the women's 4x400m race.
The lone gold medal on the women's side went to the 4x400m team who bested four other teams with a 4:13.42. The 4x100m squad also did well, taking silver with a 48.45. Individually,
Nia Lyles started her outdoor season with a third-place finish in the shot put (12.76m), while
Lorena Alanso Sanchez (59.59) and
Abigail Dreyer (1:13.40)Â
ÂÂÂ finished fourth in the 400m and the 400m hurdles, respectively.
For the men,
Brian Misoi won the first individual event of his career with a first-place finish in the 3000m Steeplechase, finishing in 10:16.83. Also posting a strong finish in the steeplechase was
Mark Colombo who took third at 10:36.28.
Austin Terry's second-place finish in the decathlon (5,645 points) and
Jobey Smith's fourth-place finish in the 400m hurdles (54.37) round out the notable performances for the Saints this weekend.
Outdoor season continues next weekend at the Washington University Invitational and Distance Carnival. The WashU Distance Carnival is set to begin on Friday, March 31 while the WashU Invitational begins the next day ln Saturday, April 1.
