Box Score St. Louis – The Maryville men's tennis team clinched a berth into the 2023 Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament by virtue of a 5-2 win over Illinois Springfield Saturday at Dwight Davis Tennis Center.
 
Mario Aleksic and Sebastian Trigosso cruised to a 6-1 triumph at the top doubles slot. The Saints took the No. 3 double match via a walkover and gained the valuable doubles point.  
 
Moving into singles, Aleksic eased to the win at No. 1 via a 6-1, 6-3 triumph. Jose Hernandez recorded a matching 6-3, 6-3 decision at the second singles position. Yann Frezouls took his No. 5 match 7-6, 6-2, while Juan Suero was victorious by walkover.
 
The Saints earned the No. 3 seed in the East Division for the GLVC Tournament and play West No. 2 seed Rockhurst Friday, April 21, in a Noon CT/ 1 p.m. ET.
