INDIANAPOLIS – Laura Bartelt earned the first Great Lakes Valley Conference Women's Bowling Athlete of the Week award of her career on Thursday after a standout performance last week. The senior from Machesney Park, Ill., took 12^th individually out of 123 bowlers at the Stormin' Blue & White Vegas Classic from Jan. 8-10.
 
Maryville went 4-1 in traditional play on Tuesday during the tournament, led by a 206.8 average from Bartelt. She tallied a 75 percent spare percentage and filled the frame 88 percent of the time. She also averaged 195.6 in baker matches with a 78.3 percent spare percentage.
 
The Saints ended the tournament in eighth place of 19 teams including a 7-3 record before Wednesday's bracket play began.
 
Next up for Maryville bowling is a trip to the Northeast Classic in New Castle, Del. Play begins on Friday, Jan. 19, and will run through Sunday, Jan. 21.
