Maryville University sophomore Mallorie Metzger was named the NCAA Division II National Runner of the Week as selected by the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Oct. 21, 2024. She is the first Saint to earn a USTFCCCA weekly national honor.
 
Metzger finished first at the Mikayla Sherrill Fall Classic hosted by UHSP at Willmore Park. She ran the 5K distance in a time of 18:39.3 and won the race by a margin of 12 seconds. Metzger's efforts helped the Saints take second in the team competition.
 
Metzger and the Saints are next in action at the Great Lakes Valley Conference championships Saturday, Oct. 26, in Springfield, Ill.
