MARYVILLE, Mo. – Maryville University track & field set two new school records over the weekend at the Bearcat Invite hosted by Northwest Missouri State University.
Sarai Brown also continued an impressive sophomore season by hitting an NCAA provisional mark.
Brown became the second Saint this season to hit an NCAA Provo with a time of 7.64 in the 60m dash. The Florissant, Mo., native took fifth in the finals and set the new school indoor record for the event.
Liz Vermillon built off the momentum from a strong outing at the Principia Relays and took fourth at the Bearcat Invite in the shot put with a 13.29m toss. The women's squad also saw the 4x400 team take sixth with a season-best time of 4:05.65,
Morgan Ahle take a seventh-place finish in the high jump with a 1.51m effort, and
Nia Lyles earn ninth with a mark of 15.48m in the weight throw.
Jobey Smith had a strong outing on the men's side with a school record 49.87 in the 400m.
Caleb Pyle placed sixth in the 5000m with a 15:07.13 and eighth in the 3000m with an 8:50.25.
Donteaus Moore rounds out the Maryville top performances with a ninth-place finish in the 60m hurdles with a personal record time of 8.55.
In their next meet, the Saints head back out to Pittsburg, Kan., for the Pittsburg State Gorilla Challenge. Events begin on Friday, Feb. 9, and conclude on Saturday, Feb. 10.
