Mickett Voted GLVC Men's Lacrosse Co-Freshman of the Year; Saints have 10 All-GLVC Selections

Indianapolis - The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced its 2024 men's lacrosse awards, and Maryville University had four first-team All-Conference selections and 10 overall. Ben Mickett was voted the GLVC's co-Freshman of the Year to highlight the major awards for the Saints.
 
Zach Baker, Ben Foster, Garrett Rivers and Justin Simonson were all named to the first team. Dagan Carlson, John Chorlton, Mickett, Dylan Radke and Shea Raeburn were second team selections, while Carter Bies was named honorable mention.
 
Mickett is second for the Saints in goals with 29 and ranks third in total points with 37. He has been a force on Maryville's man-up attack and leads the team with four goals. Mickett recorded at least one point in every game this season. Baker tops the Saints with 39 goals and 44 total points. He has scored at least two goals in 12 games and picked up a point in each contests.
 
Foster has piled up 20 goals and 13 assists for 33 points to rank fourth on the team. He scored 12 of his goals in league play, including hat tricks at Lewis and at Rockhurst. Rivers has been a force for the top defensive team in the GLVC which has surrendered just 9.0 goals per game. He has amassed 21 caused turnovers and has scooped 35 grounds balls, the most of any non-faceoff specialist on the team. Simonson is third on the team in goals with 22 and tops the team with 19 assists, and his 41 points are second most for the squad. He had seven multi-assists games this season, including three against Lynn University.
 
Carlson was an outstanding two-way player and added five assists to the Maryville attack. He contributed 34 ground balls to the efforts, second most of any non-FOGO player. Chorlton was another outstanding defender who has accounted for 14 caused turnovers to go along with 29 gound balls. He also chipped in three goals and two assists.
 
Radke had an 8.97 goals against average and backstopped a defense that ranks 10th nationally in GAA. He posted a .553 save percentage and made 9.73 saves per game. Raeburn took the majority of faceoffs for the Saints and has 138 draw wins to go along with five goals. He had a season-high 15 wins at Wingate as well as against Lynn University. Raeburn also went 13-of-15 at the dot against Davenport. Bies was another key cog in a Saints defense that ranks in the top 10 nationally in goals allowed. He has snared 24 ground balls to go along with caused turnovers.
 
Senior Nick Fine was Maryville University's nominee for the GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award.
 
The Saints (12-3) take on Rockhurst in the semifinals of the 2024 GLVC Tournament Thursday, May 2, at 7 p.m. in Romeoville, Ill.
