The Maryville University men's lacrosse coaching staff earned a pair of prestigious national honors. After leading the Saints to the national semifinals in the 2025 NCAA Tournament, head coach
Scott Stark was selected the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association NCAA Division II Coach of the Year.
Casey Mithun was named the Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IMLCA) Outstanding Assistant Coach in Division II. Stark, who was the Great Lakes Valley Conference Coach of the Year, and Mithun directed the Saints to a school-record 14 wins during the 2025 season.
Stark and Mithun guided the Saints to a share of the Great Lakes Valley Conference regular-season title for the second straight year. The Saints won the first GLVC Tournament title in program history with a 9-8 overtime victory over Lewis in the title game and second straight bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Maryville won its first-ever NCAA Tournament game with a 16-10 victory at No. 3 Anderson. In the NCAA quarterfinals, the Saints took down No. 2 seed Limestone 13-12. Limestone was ranked fourth in the polls, the highest ranked team Maryville has ever beaten. Those were the first two NCAA Tournament wins in program history. The Saints run finally ended on the road at the hands of No. 1 Tampa.
The Maryville staff coached five All-Americans as selected by the USILA and seven All-Region players. Maryville had a league-leading 16 All-GLVC selections, including Defensive Player of the Year
John Chorlton.
The Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IMLCA) and the US Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) will honor and acknowledge the men's college lacrosse award winners Friday, December 12, in Orlando, Fla., at their co-hosted Annual Awards Luncheon.
