CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY. –Makai Scott hammered down a match-high 13 kills to go along with eight digs as the Maryville men's volleyball team swept Thomas More 25-17, 25-20, 25-23. Luke Kraft finished with nine kills and five blocks, while Kevin Doran recorded seven blocks.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Saints used a 5-0 run to grab the early lead. After a service error, Doran and Ethan Beyreis-Heim notched a block. Cameron Lee put down two kills, and a Scott termination made it 7-3. Up 14-11, the Saints took control with a 5-1 run. Kraft had back-to-back kills, and two TMC errors and a block by Lee pushed the margin to 19-12.
 
Thomas More scored the first two points of set two before Maryville answered with four straight. Scott and Beyreis-Heim put down kills, and after a TMC error, Scott served an ace. Leading 9-7, Maryville scored three straight to build a cushion. The hosts got to within 16-15 before the Saints scored five of the next six points. Maryville had to straight blocks with Doran recording a solo rejection and he teamed with Kraft on another. TMC had an error followed by kills by Scott and Kraft for a 22-16 lead.
 
Thomas More took an early lead and was still up 15-12 before the Saints tallied four straight. TMC had a serving error, and Kraft posted a solo block. After a kill by Scott, Kraft and Doran's block put the Saints ahead 16-15. TMC went back on top but the Saints answered with three straight. Lee and Kraft sandwiched kills around a TMC error for a 22-21 advantage. The teams traded points to tie the score at 23-all. But Lee put down a ball, and a Thomas More error ended the match.
