CARBONDALE, Ill. – Rickalia Goss,
Bryson Pickard,
Wyatt Hilton and
Amel Abdul-Mumin all came away with event wins for the Maryville Track & Field on Friday at the SIU Carbondale hosted Don DeNoon Classic. In total the Saints tallied 11 podium finishes on the adjusted meet.

Originally set to be a Friday-Saturday meet, the winter storm hitting the Midwest shifted the event to a one day Friday event in the SIU Recreation Center.

INS & OUTS
Goss highlighted the women's efforts by winning the long jump with a mark of 5.48 meters, while Liz Vermillion added a runner-up finish in the shot put, placing second with a throw of 12.55 meters for the field events.

On the track,
Lyric Ford finished second in the mile, crossing in 5:15.91, while
Mallorie Metzger placed third in the 800 meter.
Sarai Brown picked up two top-four finishes, taking fourth in the 60 meter and third in the 200 meter.
Emoni Owens also reached the podium, finishing third in the 400 meter.

The Saints' men were equally productive. Pickard won the 400 meter with a time of 49.75, while
Landon Oxford followed close behind in third at 50.62.
Wyatt Hilton captured first place in the 800 meter, clocking a 2:00.39.
Dawson McCown earned a second-place finish in the mile with a time of 4:27.27.

In the sprints,
Brendon Hoyte, a newcomer to the squad from Barbados, led a strong group in the 60 meter, finishing third, with
Giovanni Jones fourth and
Jayden Atkins fifth. Pickard also placed fourth in the 200 meter, followed by Oxford in fifth and Hoyte in sixth.
Donteaus Moore rounded out the top finishes with a third-place result in the 60 meter hurdles.

UP NEXT
A big one is on deck at the Saints head west to Topeka, Kan., for the Washburn Open. Action from the Sneed Indoor Athletic Facility kicks off on Friday, Jan. 30, and concludes on Saturday, Jan. 31.
