LOCKPORT, Ill. – The Maryville women's bowling team posted a strong weekend at the Flyer Classic, finishing third overall with a 9–4 record against a loaded national field hosted by Lewis University.
The Saints totaled 13,214 pins across 66 games, averaging 200.2 per game to secure a podium finish behind Jacksonville State and Vanderbilt.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Saints went 2–3 in Baker play to open the event, highlighted by wins over Sacred Heart (981–897) and Quincy (1,016–915). The Saints added victories in traditional play against Valparaiso (1,027–906), Oklahoma Christian (979–934), Western Illinois (1,091–906) and Saint Anselm (989–791), finishing 4–1 in the traditional block.
The Saints carried that momentum into Sunday's championship bracket, going a perfect 3–0 to lock up third place overall.
Individually,
Alexis Ingersoll led the way for Maryville with a top-10 finish, placing 10th overall with a 213.8 average.
Morgan Brunner followed with a 24th-place showing at 207.2, while
Elizabeth Teuber averaged 202.2 to place 27th.
