INDIANAPOLIS – For the first time since 2020, major conference hardware is returning to Maryville Track and Field.
Sarai Brown was selected as the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Indoor Track Athlete of the Year at the GLVC Indoor Track & Field Championships in Indianapolis. Brown won two events and shattered a GLVC record over the weekend. She was joined in the trophy club by freshman sprinter
Harry Mitchell, who captured GLVC Freshman of the Year honors.
The honors for both Brown and Mitchell are the first indoor major awards the Saints have garnered since 2020.
The Saints tallied four event wins over the two-day meet, with Brown and Mitchell accounting for three of them. The women's team finished fifth overall, while the men's squad placed sixth. UIndy swept both championships on its home track at the ARC.

Saturday saw early action for the Saints as, in the prelims of the 60 meter, Brown shattered the GLVC meet record with a 7.37, a mark she later replicated in the finals for her first event title of the day. On the same day, Mitchell broke the meet record in the 400 meter with a 47.88.
Outside of the records being broken, Saturday saw the women's distance medley relay squad of

Mitchell's time came Sunday as well. After placing second in the 200 meter, he defended his 400 meter meet record with a 47.74 in the finals to capture the title.
Bryson Pickard placed second in the event after racing in an earlier heat and briefly breaking Mitchell's record, which lasted only until Mitchell took the track again.
The final event victory came from the men's 4x400 relay team of Pickard, Mitchell,
Deontae Anthony and
Landon Oxford, who ran a 3:17.58 to earn the title.
Other placers on the women's side included Ford's fourth-place finish in the mile, with Limberg joining her by finishing sixth. Goss added another strong finish, placing fourth in the 60 meter. Metzger tallied a sixth-place finish in the 800 meter, while the women's 4x400 relay team finished fifth.
