SMYRNA, Tenn. – The Maryville bowling team recorded a strong showing against one of the nation's toughest fields, finishing eighth at the 2026 Music City Classic hosted by Vanderbilt.
The Saints compiled a 10–3 record across the three-day tournament, highlighted by a perfect 5–0 performance in traditional play on Saturday. Maryville knocked down 13,652 total pins and averaged 200.8 per game over 68 games.
Morgan Brunner and
Elizabeth Teuber both recorded all-tournament team selections, with Brunner finishing fourth and Teuber fifth. Brunner averaged 224.8 over her time, with Teuber right behind her with a 223.6. Brook Pabst was not far behind in 18th, ending with a 208.8 average.
INS & OUTS
Maryville opened the event in baker play by winning four of five matches. After dropping the opening match to Wright State, the Saints responded with wins over Newman, Carthage, Western Illinois and Tulane to sit near the top of the standings heading into the traditional portion of the tournament.
The Saints caught fire in traditional matches, sweeping all five contests. Maryville defeated Maryland Eastern Shore and Youngstown State to begin the day before adding wins over Marian (Wis.), Indianapolis and Sam Houston State. The Saints saved their best performance for last, rolling a 1,180 team game against Sam Houston State, the highest score of the weekend for Maryville.
The Saints entered bracket play as the eighth seed, winning in five games against UAB in the opening round. The Saints would go on to fall to Louisiana Tech and Wichita State, the later in a nail biter seven-game match to end up in eighth place.
