After falling behind by 12 points, the top-ranked Maryville wrestling squad rallied to post a thrilling 18-17 victory at No. 9 Lindenwood Tuesday night at Hyland Arena in St. Charles, Mo.

Jaret Singh won the first match of the night at 125 via sudden victory by a 3-1 count over No. 6 Marco Tamayo to give the Saints the early lead. The Lions took the next two weight classes by major decisions and another by forfeit. The Saints were also penalized one team point and found themselves down 14-2. Greg Hegarty started the Maryville comeback by posting a 7-3 victory at 157, and Dimitri Willis piled up a major by an 18-6 count.
Lindenwood won by a decision at 174 to push its advantage back to 17-9 with three matches remaining. However, the Saints mounted a dramatic comeback to snare the victory. Zeb Wahle eased to an 8-3 win at 184. Ryan Beltz, who is ranked fourth in the nation, faced off against the No. 3-ranked wrester Kenny Breaux. Fittingly, the match moved to sudden victory. Finally, in the third extra session, Beltz recorded a takedown for a thrilling 4-2 win to pull the Saints to 17-15.
The dual would come down to the final match at the heavyweight classification. Donnell Walker registered a first-period takedown but Lindenwood's Jacob Borgmeyer later recorded one-point escapes to eventually tie the match at 2-2. However, Walker piled up 1:05 of riding time in his early takedown and that proved to be the difference to give him a 3-2 win.
