Jackson, Tenn. - In a matchup of unbeaten teams, Maryville and Union split a doubleheader played Friday afternoon in Jackson, Tenn. Union won game one 4-2, while the Saints took game two 1-0.

In the first game, Union rallied to hand the Saints a 4-2 defeat.
Yoonjae Nam doubled to lead off the second inning and took third on
Sean Murphy's deep flyout. Zach Ruckman lashed a double down the line in right to give the Saints a quick 1-0 lead.
Connor Markell single to center chased Ruckman home for a 2-0 lead.

Union pulled one unearned run back in the third and tied the game 2-2 later in the frame. In the fifth inning, Union strung together a single, double and triple to score two runs to grab a 4-2 lead. The Saints put a runner in in the next three innings but was unable to bring home a score. In the top of the ninth, Murphy singled and
Evan Reister walked to put two runners on. However, the Saints fortune flipped as a hard hit shot turned into a game-ending double play as Union handed the Saints their first loss of the season.

Game two was a pitching duel as neither team scored until the Saints pushed across the lone run in the top of the ninth. The Saints best scoring chance game in the sixth when
Mitch Carriger doubled but was eventually thrown out at the plate to keep the game scoreless. Saints pitcher matched Union's staff with zeros and escaped trouble as they held the hosts to 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position. The Saints scored the game winner in the ninth when Murphy drilled a one-out triple.
Dalton Schumer then lofted a sac fly to right as Murphy touched home with the only run of the game. Starter
Robbie Gordon threw three shutout innings, and
Josh Bonds followed with four innings and allowed just one hit.
Brandon Downey pitched the two innings and completed the team shutout and notched the win.

The Saints are 5-1 on the season, while Union is a matching 5-1. The teams are slated to play one game Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
