St. Louis - The Maryville baseball team was looking to win the series against Truman State but the Bulldogs held the Saints offense in check Sunday as the visitors took both games Sunday 5-2 and 6-2. The games were played at Missouri Baptist University.

In the opener, the Saints took a 1-0 in the bottom of the first. Zach Ruckman reached on a fielder's choice and promptly stole second.
Sean Murphy drilled an RBI single to right for a 1-0 lead. Truman tied it in the top of the third before the Saints answered in the bottom of the fourth.
Louis Niemerg walked and moved into scoring position on a wild pitch.
Tyler Catlett lashed an RBI single to put the Saints back ahead 2-1. Truman tied it in the top of the fifth and surged ahead on a two-run double in the sixth by Mason King. The Bulldogs tacked on an insurance run in the seventh to close out the win.

Truman pitcher Alex Hoffman limited the Saints offense in game two as he faced the minimum 15 batters over the first five innings. Maryville got a double but the runner was erased trying to stretch it to a triple. The Bulldogs pushed across a run in the top of the first and added two more in the top of the sixth. The Saints answered in the bottom of the frame when
Mitch Carriger blasted a two-run homer over the fence in right center. However, Truman State took a 6-2 lead with three more runs in the seventh. The Saints put two runners aboard in the bottom of the ninth but were unable to cut into the gap.

The Saints slip to 13-18 overall, 4-8 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Bulldogs improve to 14-19 overall, 6-6 in the league.
