Indianapolis - The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced that Maryville sophomore
Casey Berberich (Lebanon, Ill./Lebanon) has been named the league's women's outdoor field athlete of the week for the period ending April 21, 2019. Berberich becomes the first Saint to win this honor since becoming a member of the conference.
Berberich had an outstanding day at the Dewey Allgood Invite in Rolla, Mo., last weekend as she won the heptathlon with a score of 4,797 points. That total set a new school record and also is an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark in the event. It is also the leading point total in the GLVC this spring. Berberich also set a provisional mark in the high jump with a winning leap of 5'6". In her final event of the meet, Berberich aided the 4x100-meter relay team in a new school record time of 49.50.
The women's track and field team return to action Saturday at Illinois College in Jacksonville, Ill. The meet is set to begin at 9 a.m.
