Saints Men's Lacrosse Sweeps GLVC Weekly Honors

Indianapolis - The Maryville University men's lacrosse team swept this week's Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week honors for the period ending Sunday, Feb. 20. Sophomore midfielder Reid Usrey was voted the GLVC Offensive Player of the Week, while freshman goalie Jaxon Snyder was selected the league's Defensive Player of the Week. The Saints swept their two games in Ohio last week, defeating Walsh 17-5 and Lake Erie 14-11.

Usrey finished with seven goals and one assist for eight points in the two victories. He also added four ground balls and had one caused turnover. Usrey fired in two goals in the first quarter as the Saints took early command against Walsh. He followed up with five goals and one helper in the win at Lake Erie. Usrey also tallied what would prove to be the game-winning goal in the fourth quarter versus LEC.

Snyder recorded 11 saves and allowed only five goals to pick up the win at Walsh. He entered the Lake Erie in the final minute of the third quarter of a tie game and allowed only one score in the fourth quarter to notch the victory at Lake Erie. Snyder had 14 saves, a .700 save percentage on the week and allowed only six goals in more than 75 minutes in net. He also scooped up four ground balls and created two turnovers.

The Saints (2-0) are next in action Saturday, Feb. 26, when they host Lewis for a nonconference game starting at 11 a.m. at Maryville Field.
