BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Maryville University track & field took home eight event wins from the Snow Bird Invite at Illinois College on Saturday and broke two school records. Freshmen sprinters
Monte Weaver and
Sarai Brown both broke the previous record for the 55m in their respective events.

The women were led in victories by
Nia Lyles who posted gold once again in the shot put (13.19m) and the weight throw (14.86m). Brown's 7.24 in the 55m was good enough for first place in the event, besting Darionna Griffin's previous indoor record of 7.57. She also won the 200m event with a 22.66 finish.

On the men's side, freshman
Andre Williams won the first event of his career with a 13.26m effort in the triple jump.
Caleb Pyle brought home another win for Maryville in the 3000m (9:12.84) while the Distance Medley team finished in 11:08.24 for the team's final victory. Additionally, Weaver's 6.63 in the 55m dash preliminaries gave him the new school record, surpassing
Jared Stubbs' 6.78 from last season.
