BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Maryville University took home first place at the Titan Open on Saturday, winning five total individual events.
Freshman
Sarai Brown helped lead the Saints' charge on the campus of Illinois Wesleyan, winning both the 60m (7.80) and the 200m (25.86). Spring, Texas, native
Aziah Hubbard also took gold in her event, finishing with a mark of 1.50m in the high jump.
Nia Lyles continued to dominate throwing events with more victories in the shot put (12.99m) and the weight throw (15.60m) giving her seven event wins in 2022-23. Additionally, her effort in the weight throw also set a new personal record for the event.
Other notable finishes for Maryville were
Nalani Hunter's bronze in the shot put (12.08m),
Laura Sherwood's third-place finish in the 5000m (20:01.48), and
Olivia Clive's fourth-place finish in the 5000m (20:41.71).
Next up for Maryville women's track & field is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Indoor Championships. The conference meet is scheduled to start on Saturday, Feb. 25, and will run through Sunday, Feb. 26, in Indianapolis, Ind.
