ROLLA, Mo. – Maryville University Women's Track & Field took eighth of 10 teams at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships over the weekend. The Saints finished with 39 points, 30 ahead of the University of Illinois Springfield and nine behind Drury University.
Nia Lyles continued a strong senior season with a third-place finish in the shot put with a 13.72m effort.
Sarai Brown,
Lorena Alanso Sanchez,
Darriona Griffin, and
Milahn Dukes also helped the Saints score big in the 4x100 with the bronze at 49.15.
Brown and Alanso both had strong individual days as well. Brown took a pair of sixth-place finishes in the 100m (12.17) and the 200m (25.37). Alanso earned two eighth-place finishes in the 100m (12.24) and the 400m (1:09.11).
Taya Allen bagged five points for Maryville's team score with a fourth-place finish in the heptathlon with 3700 points.
Abigail Dreyer,
Aziah Hubbard, and
Abby Stone also did their parts, helping the Saints finish the weekend with 39 total points.
The Saints wrap up their regular season on Thursday, May 11, at the Missouri S&T Last Chance Qualifier in Rolla, Mo.
