Ford, Metzger Shatter Decade Old Records at ISU

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Lyric Ford and Mallorie Metzger led the Saints at the Indiana State hosted Gibson Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind. Despite severe rain throughout all of the Saturday, the Saints also tallied 14 other PRs, an even seven for each team.

Ford, in just her first time ever competing in the 3000 steeplechase, tallied a 11:25.9, snapping a decade old program record, placing her second among all women in the Great Lakes Valley Conference in the event.

For Metzger, her success came out of the 800, running a 2:16.22, also a 10 plus year old program mark. She now sits in strong GLVC position at seventh in the race.

Joining in the record breakers was Caden Taylor who snapped the hammer throw record with a 43.09 meter mark. Amel Abdul-Mumin, who has been electric all season, added one final new record, a 2.03 lead in the high jump which placed him second in the GLVC and atop of all Saints in school history.
