Maryville men’s soccer fell 2-1 at Saint Joseph’s Friday evening when the Pumas converted a deflection after a saved penalty kick at the 87:32 mark for the winner.

SJC took the early 1-0 lead in the 29th minute when Torrey Brock scored. The Saints had a goal nullified after they were called for an offsides infraction late in the opening half. The Pumas 1-0 lead stood through halftime. Midway through the second, the Saints equalized at 64:55 when Matt Bearley dribbled around in traffic and slotted in the ball for a 1-1 tie. However, the Pumas earned a kick from the spot in the 88thth minute. Maryville keeper James Hohenstein, who had just entered the game, saved the initial penalty kick but the ball bounced out to Cole Galloway who found the back of the net for the SJC game winner.

The Saints see their record slide to 2-12 overall, 2-9 in the GLVC, while the Pumas improve to 4-9 overall, 3-8 in the league.
