Brands, Gentry and Nilson-Hurtig Land on USC All-Midwest Region Second Team

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Three Maryville women's soccer players have been tabbed 2024 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II Women's All-Midwest Region Second Team honorees. The trio of defender Lotte Brands, Midfielder Lexi Gentry and Forward Elsa Nilson-Hurtig all found spots upon the second team.

Brands, recently named a second-team All-American by D2CCA, helped the Saints only allow nine goals all season, a .45 goals-against average while allowing just 6.7 shots per contest.  She added four goals alongside three assists, one of which occurred in the GLVC tournament. Brands recorded 90-minute performances in 12 of the Saints contests this season.

Gentry was the engine of the Saints in the midfield, registering 1494 minutes played, alongside five goals and nine assists, including two massive goals in the NCAA tournament in a come-from-behind victory over McKendree.

Nilson-Hurtig was one of the deadliest offensive forces in the Midwest, ending her year with 32 points on 11 goals and 10 assists, becoming the first player since 2008 to tally double digit goals in a season.

Maryville ended their 2024 season 16-1-3 overall, earning their third-straight NCAA tournament appearance and hosting their first ever tournament contest. Their 13-0-1 GLVC record was best among the league, earning them their second-consecutive regular season title.
